JEE Main 2019 Preparation Tips by Expert - Change is vital but the impact that it creates need to be analysed to be able to decipher its long term consequences. With NTA conducting JEE Main from 2019 and changes in exam like computer based test with an option to attempt it twice, the entire game plan has changed. Nitin Vijay, an IIT alumni and the Managing Director of Motion Education Pvt. Ltd is conversant with the challenges that will crop up as well as the impact. He believes that preparation for JEE Main just needs to be tweaked for the new format. He also strongly feels that the changes announced in JEE Main are by and large beneficial to students. Read below, JEE Main preparation tips 2019 by expert, Nitin Vijay below to chalk out the best preparation strategy for the exam.
Changes in JEE Main and How to make the most out of it?
A lot of scepticism is in the air regarding the current changes adopted in the JEE structure and NTA’s modul operand to schedule and organize the exams without any hassle or security issues. The torch now has been passed on to NTA from the hands of CBSE and a completely different way of exam conduction is on the cards.
How is it beneficial for students?
  • The changed format will facilitate two different attempts for JEE Main without any change in syllabus or pattern structure.
  • This change should be cherished by the students, according to preparation tips of JEE Main 2019 by expert, Nitin Vijay as they will get two chances instead of one so that the extra attempt can act as a backup in case of any emergency.
  • Though, it is advisable for students to give both attempts to maximise their chances of cracking the exams.
  • Online mode of the exam is going to make online test practice a critical aspect for the students preparing for JEE Main2019. To support this, NTA has planned out to roll out practice centres across India.
What strategy one should follow for JEE Main 2019?
Assuming that you take both attempts to maximise your chances of qualifying, the strategy has to be tweaked a bit to adjust to the limited time we have on hand before the first attempt in Jan, 2019.
No matter what study preference you have, be it coaching, online learning or self-study, in any case the amount of daily effort you put in needs to be ramped up by about 20% - 30%, which will ensure that you fast-track your progress and finish the curriculum on time.
Since there is no change in paper pattern or curriculum, you need not think of adopting alternate resources to prepare for the coming exams. What you need, is increased efforts and regular practice to ensure timely completion of course and topics and enough practice.
What daily schedule to follow for JEE Main 2019?
Given the limited time, your daily strategy is going to impact your exam day performance a lot. Follow these two steps with a regular approach for an effective and failure proof preparation:
  1. Even out the hours spent for each subject daily. Do not neglect a single subject.
  2. Set a specific time for question practice for all the subjects that you are preparing. Allot specified time (minutes) for a single question. For example, if 5 minutes are allotted for a question, do not consume more than that. If you cannot understand the question in first read, then seek guidance. Budget time for practice and learning, and stick to it.
Monitor your JEE Main Progress
Create a checklist with criteria to monitor the progress made. The three things that will determine if you will succeed or not are:
  1. Knowledge
  2. Accuracy
  3. Speed
Knowledge is to be acquired through daily in depth learning of concepts. Do not try to read and just mug up concepts, visualization is what is required to help you get that idea behind the concept. Knowledge acquired can be tested by attempting questions regularly. Accuracy is determined by the amount of questions you solve and how much you solve correctly. So given you have acquired a good knowledge, you will be able to understand and attempt more number of questions with almost 100% accuracy. Simultaneously, work on speed with which you solve questions. When all the three above are check listed, exams can be cleared with ease.
Use Mock Tests to Strategize Your JEE Main Preparation
Mock Tests, play an impeccable role in improving your knowledge, speed and accuracy. Start preparation of the same from August onwards. Take an initial mock test, and get the performance analysis to understand your strong and weak areas, your accuracy rate, level of attempts, no of questions attempted. Now if your weak areas lie in the topics from which more number of questions is asked, you will have to spend more time on that to strengthen on those topics. It is suggested to practice 2 mock test every month and 10-15 mock tests two months prior to the exam.
